SANDOVAL LAKE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Trek 3 kilometers through pristine rainforest to reach stunning Sandoval Lake. Glide peacefully by canoe through this biodiverse oxbow lake, home to giant river otters, howler monkeys, black caimans, colorful macaws, and over 600 bird species in crystal-clear waters surrounded by towering trees.
Full Day Itinerary
- 7:00 am – Pick up from your hotel
7:30 am – Transfer to the port and navigation on the Madre de Dios River
8:30 am – Arrival at canopy walkway site
8:45 am – 10:30 am – Canopy walkway experience
First tower 40m (130 feet)
Cross 6 suspended bridges
Second observation point 35m (120 feet)
Final tower 35m (100 feet)
10:45 am – Return to boat and navigate 25 minutes to Tambopata National Reserve
11:30 am – Begin 3km trek through rainforest to Sandoval Lake
12:30 pm – Arrive at Sandoval Lake
12:45 pm – 2:00 pm – Canoe exploration of Sandoval Lake
